Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Mekong River Vietnamese Cuisine, a hidden gem nestled within the vibrant Tauranga Crossing Garden Eatery, located at 2 Taurikura Drive, Tauriko, Tauranga 3110, New Zealand. This takeout restaurant brings the rich and diverse flavors of Vietnam to your plate, inviting you to indulge in a culinary journey right in the heart of Tauranga.

From the moment you step in or place your order, the enticing aroma of grilled meats and fresh herbs envelops you, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a delightful array of dishes that capture the essence of traditional Vietnamese street food. Highlights include the classic Beef Pho, a warm and comforting noodle soup that allows diners to savor the rich broth, with options ranging from succulent slices of beef to seafood and vegetarian delights. Priced at NZ$17.90, it embodies the heart of Vietnamese cuisine.

For those looking for a snack or a light meal, the Grilled Pork Sausage (Nem Nướng) at NZ$6.90 is a must-try. Each bite bursts with flavor, offering a true taste of Vietnam. Another favorite among fans is the Bánh Mì, a delightful Vietnamese baguette sandwich filled with a choice of fresh ingredients, bringing together textures and flavors that strike a perfect balance.

Customer reviews echo this sentiment. Amy Briner was blown away by the flavor in her beef Bánh Mì, while Sarah Oakley praised the Tofu Pho, claiming it transported her back to Vietnam. This engagement with the authentic flavors keeps diners returning for more, as Hannah Jarrett expressed in her review about finally finding the best pho since her favorite Vietnamese restaurant closed. Together, these experiences underline a genuine dedication to quality and authenticity.

Mekong River Vietnamese Cuisine also offers refreshing beverages such as Vietnamese coffee at a modest price of NZ$5.50, a perfect companion to any meal. While some diners noted areas for improvement—like the balance of ice in bubble tea—the overall positive feedback highlights a restaurant committed to enhancing their offerings based on customer experiences.

As a reviewer for Menustic, I can confidently say that Mekong River Vietnamese Cuisine is not just a place to eat; it's an experience that resonates with warmth, freshness, and flavor. Such yummy food. I got the beef Bahn Mi and my husband got the lemongrass chicken bao bun and they were both amazing! So full of flavour and fresh tasting. We both want to come back to try everything else!

Love this place. I stop in regularly for a Tofu Pho and it's always amazing. The tofu Banh Mi is so good. Reminds me of being in vietnam. I need to try more of the menu. The staff are always friendly too.

taro bubble tea has lots of ice. but im glad that they have it on their menu. will order next time but will have to inform them to put less ice. spring roll was ok, can be improved, though price point was alright.agree to one comment that hopefully you can make the dishes as authentic as possible.

Best pho we’ve had since our favourite Vietnamese restaurant closed! We are from Hamilton and never been to Tauranga Crossing before. This experience made it 100% worth our while. We will definitely be back! The staff were so lovely, the food was fresh. Amazing! 10/10!

Lovely food made fresh and I don’t find the prices bad at all. Has my fave Vietnamese coffee for only 5.50

My family had a chance to travel to Tauranga and found a Vietnamese restaurant here, their food is very suitable for the taste of my family members. If I have a chance to go there again, I will definitely come back here
